The Administrator’s J2EE development environment delivers a next generation software development platform that is scalable, technology neutral, portable, and modular.  The Administrator delivers the development environment with an object model that is distinct from, but uniquely coupled to, the data model.

Separating the object model from the data model allows our business users and developers to work on business problems/solutions in a very efficient and logical manner. 

The business solutions need not be described in terms of records, rows, data items, trailers, databases, or files.  The life insurance object model allows everyone to talk using the same terms; that is to say “business terms”, very effectively.  Meanwhile, the integrity of the data is controlled through the use of technology within the J2EE scalability framework. 

The object model is coupled to the data model via LIDP’s unique documentation methodology.  Our documentation describes the relationships between the object and data models and is used to generate the database access utilities.  To change the organization of the business model, one merely needs to update the documentation.
